The final group of songs were recorded on old Paiute land, near Mt. Charleston, NV on November 21st 2009. 'On Our Love', 'And We Start Asking Questions' and
'With Friends on the Mountain' were recorded during a day trip to the Joshua Tree forest. I played my music to the trees as they danced in super slow motion around me. Those trees are amazing, and if you don't believe it, do some research on them and find out for yourself. I recorded the three songs, along with a few others which didn't make the album, as the sun began to set in the western mountains. 'And We Start Asking Questions' was the first of the three, and it is about the beginning of a journey through curiosity. It includes an ultra free form vocal interlude, which although strange at first, tends to
grow on people.
lyrics
And We Start Asking Questions
thinking about the things I never think about
always seem to cause me doubt
now I'm standing on the road
not quite sure which way I go
I think I've been here before
at least that's what my watch is for
its about time to look at the time
I look to the sky and see a cloud
thunderstorm on the way
I think I better find a shade
shade from the rain above
man I need some gloves
my hands are really cold
from touching my bare road
burying my feet
so I can stay warm
man this ancient land
is full of surprises my friend
I didn't even know I was not alone
'till I looked at the tree and saw my home
then I was like "where?"
not really quite aware
the way people lived before
before we had more
now we have too much
seems like there's never enough
but man let me tell you what
pretty much, pretty much is too much
look at us in our world
little boys, little girls
breaking it all down
then we've got to pass it around
my world is so small now
at least that's what they say in the crowd
then you've got a tin can
takes about a million years to break it down
man look at plastic again
where did it all come from
not quite sure we ever understand
but then its in our hands
man I feel really dumb
just become everyone
they seem so smart
maybe 'cause they wrote the rules
I don't know
I
don't
I
don't
I
don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
no
don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
no
don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
no
I
I
I
I
don't, don't, don't, don't

ask me another question please
one that makes sense
Blending modern indie and lo-fi production style with late-1960s agitprop folk, FreesoulJAH’s guitar, loop and vocal based
songs hypnotize, inspire and empower. His simple, mantra-like lyrics cut through the barriers of poetry and ambiguity to “speak truth to power” and offer a light in the darkness....more
